February Lay Outs for Better Scrapbooking

Well February's news letter is out at Better Scrapbooking so that means I can show the LOs I have done with this months scrap pack!!

I loved this pack it was great for family LOs, nothing to girlie or boyish just in the middle. Great for this time of year when there are lots of family photos being snapped.

I love this Pic of my oldest boy Vinnie, photo was taken on Christmas eve we took all the kids to the park just trying to run some energy out of them before the big fat man came to visit.

This is a photo of all my kids taken back in labor weekend in October we stopped half way though our bush walk to have lunch and a drink and what better photo opp was i going to get, we had a great day out and the kids loved bush walking so much!

This photo is of my little Alex, taken just after his second birthday hard to think he is starting school in a couple of weeks. he isn't so little anymore!

This is a pic of my boy Elliott, so proud of him he was a little king in his school Christmas Nativity play this year. Years 1,2 and 3 do the same play every year so counting this year I have now seen this play 6 times and I still have 2 more kids to go...lol But they love and all the kids are very proud of themselves.

Christmas day and what great fun it was. As you can see from the photos the kids got a tramp this year and boy what a hit!! they spent most of the day on it.

I decided to make bag tags with the acrylic scallops, being so close to back to school time. they are already sitting on the kids bags waiting for Monday to roll around!!

Crayon Canvas

Crayon canvases are all over pintrest. It seems like everyone is making one, so I thought well why not me!! only problem is I had no hair dryer or a hot glue gun I wanted to use so what was a girl to do??

Well she whips out the handy dandy hair straighteners of course, only don't tell my husband who used to be a hair dresser I don't think he would be impressed at all.

So I started of by gluing some cheap crayons to the top of a canvas. These canvases are only little ones not the big ones you see on pintrest so I only used half a crayon instead of a full one. And simply pressed my straighteners onto it, I did have the for thought to used grease proof paper so I didn't get a lot of colour bleeding going on.

I am really happy how these turned out and I just love the black one can't wait to hang these in Vinnie's new room!!

Project House Back Under Way!

A few months ago I started project clean up at my house before and afters. I got very brave and posted before and after pics of some of my many clean ups and problem areas in my house, well now its back, now some of my areas I will be doing I have done before and some of you may be thinking, well that didn't last long, but really this worked for me for so long but after Christmas I have just gotten lazy and can't be naffed doing anything!! so to start off this time I did the lounge window and the top of me blanket box.

See example of laziness, Christmas decos haven't been put away!

And ten minutes later this is what it looks like, now what can you do in ten minuets in your house?? I would love to hear!! Oh and the door that's under the window is going to be used hopefully real soon and a new project!!

Oh and BTW I will add that the TV cabinet has stayed clean and tidy!!

Bit Of A New Look and A New Challenge

So trying to make myself get into the blogging mood I have decided it was time for a make over. Sort of, I have a new banner what do you think??

And with the new look a new life challenge!! this one I have stolen from Tracy but its ok she said I could. It's called the Charmed life challenge! This to me seems like a fun, sometimes easy way to give myself a but of a boost when needed!!

1. Give something broken a new life (a skirt, a squeaky wheel, scuffed shoes).

Opps My Bad!

Well time seems to be getting longer and longer between post...I have sort of lost my way a bit in the bloging world, I just feel like I have nothing to say. I haven't been doing a lot of craft stuff lately and my mood has been rather depressing so thought blah why bother no one reads it anyway. (Like I said depressing)

So starting with this post I am going to try and get back on the horse so to speak. It doesn't matter if 1 person reads this or 100!! I have been told that when I got brave and posted my before and after clean up pics of my house I sparked a bit of a clean up al the way from Invercargill to Auckland so maybe me blogging might help some somewhere.

Anyway enough about that, what have I been doing? Well before Christmas we had out dinning room plastered and painted it looks awesome but I haven't taken pics of that yet I should do that soon thou. We have some big plans for the next couple of months for the house, the kitchen computer nook, the dinning room floors and Vinnies new room are all on the list so keep and eye out for that

When I say I haven't been doing a lot of crafting I am still on the Better Scrapbooking design team for this year so I am still doing some scrapbooking at least so will be up posting all of that soon. Also some teacher gifts coming up as my little Alex is soon to be turning five and off to school. Also I have rediscovered art journalling, I started this a few years ago, I was never any good at, it in fact I'm still not to shit hot but meh its for me and I really enjoy it. Go have a look at Just journal on facebook and join in!! Plus I have a lot of pintrest things I want to get done too!!

One the the pintress things are these little toadstools!! well more Tracy than pintress this time, but she got the idea from there so I ran with it too. Made out of a cake tin and a wooden bowl and logs. Super easy to make to!! I have given these ones to the kids daycare but I plan to make a few more!!

And lastly some one may need to slap me, this is the January design team pack for Better scrapbooking! This should have been posted weeks ago but I have just found the pics!! Sorry Megan again!! This Pack was just perfect for little girls and my wedding pics!!

Project clean up and get organized

Or what ever you want to call it is back on!!!
Now with 28 days till Christmas its time to get my stuff sorted!! My house has very much been neglected over the past few months, and with all the family descending on us at Christmas its about time I sorted it out!! So today it starts. I am being ruthless, everything must go...well not everything but you get the idea.....Now where to start??

I don't know if ill be posting the before and after pics like I did last time, we'll see how I go! If it will help motivated ppl ill think about it!

back again, Jennies back, tell a friend!!

Yep that's right I'm back, anyone still reading...lol been a while but I'm back into the fill swing of things again now, and have been very busy, I have lots to write and share!

First off, my little miss had a birthday.. my little girl is growing up and quickly!! it really doesn't seem like 3 years has past.

I will have to add some more pics at a later date, for some reason I can't find the rest right now :(

I am now running a little craft group for the teen mum support house and having a great time doing that. We are getting ready to have a craft fair so all the craft lady's are working hard. I still have to start making stuff for my own stall but ill get then in the end...lol

let see whats next ...I entered a recycled art comp for the habitat for humanity restore and won! I know awesome aye!! I am now a award winning artist...LOL This is what I entered

have lots of better scrap booking Los and OTP projects to show you too ill post them in a couple of days.

I have also decided to get project organised started up again and get going with the house, after my Brother in law past away in May none of us were really feeling the need to do much and everything I did has now back to the way it was before I started. But its time we got back to it, so keep and eye out for that to. Ill post as I do stuff so you never know when the mood will hit for me to get stuck in...lol

So, it been a while

like the title says, its been awhile since I last blogged, and for no other reason as I really couldn't be bothered. Since the death of my brother in law in late May I haven't really felt like doing much to be honest.

Rick was a big part of our lives and routine is weird now. When Sunday rolls around and we're not all piling into the car to go see him. Even right now I'm sitting here at 1:30pm on a Sunday afternoon watching Vinnie and Jon playing the X box and I still feel like we should be getting ready to leave.

So over the past month in a half I have started lots of things and haven't really finished anything enough to show you, started painting my out door bench seat and table but haven't finished them, started recovering my couch, but again haven't finished, started altering a birdcage but haven't finished, started making the kids some pillowcase mattress things but again haven't finished them. Even Annabel's room isn't finished yet and I started that months ago Time to get out of this funk I think...lol thinks week might have to be a finishing week.

But for today I'm going to show a Lo I did about a week ago. first in ages that I have done. And a cake I made.

Just wanted to make a bright funky Lo this week in contrast to the b/w photo.

So I decided I wanted to try fondant icing, we are getting ready for birthday season around here and with Vinnie deciding he wants a big castle cake this year and miss not really knowing what she wants just yet I am experimenting early. This cake is my first go at fondant not to bad I think ..its a bit ruff around the place but I didn't have much fondant to work with and rolled it out to thin, but ill know for next time so its all good as far as I'm concerned, plus I had such fun!!

So I really do hope to be back real soon with something else actually finished.

New Layout's For Better Scrapbooking And Videos Too!!

For something new this month I had a go at videoing myself making a couple of Los

I am still sort of working out the best angles and stuff with the camera and my video camera is a few years old now so its not Cristal clear like the new cameras you get today, but I have enjoyed making the vids none the less!!

This one is my fat little baby girl, oh how I miss the baby days!

Decided to try and make a boy layout out of this pack, most of the papers were rather girly, but I think I pulled it off.

Another one of miss Bell and the video to match.

And lastly, One of me of a change, the photo I used for this isn't very good. I went and got some new ink for the printer only to get home and realise I didn't have any photo paper so I have used just normal printer paper till I get some.

Getting back in to it!

So its been a bit of a off week so not much has been going on here, only really getting back in to the organize house thing yesterday.

I did get my office/big cupboard done, but then life happened and well I never got around to posting it. I will not be showing you the before photos for this room thou, cos well it was really that bad, the difference is night and day in that little room!!

The red and blue boxes on the big shelf are for all the kids school/daycare stuff so its no longer just sitting around in big piles, all the paper work for the house, work, ird etc have been sorted too!! didn't I do well!!

In the big bins you see there the top one is part of out emergency kit and the bottom one is all the insulation that came out of the ceiling when Jon feel though it see that here. FYI still not fixed !!

Yesterday I spent a good 4-5 hours in the boys room sorting EVERYTHING!! but no photos of that just yet. (The batteries in the camera are flat) will do that later thou!!

With No Apologising At All

Today I'm showing you my lounge and bedroom. In the lounge I started off by only planing to do my book shelf but that quickly turned a total lounge over hall, and because I wasn't planing to do it all I only really got pics of the book shelf but I have found a pic of my chair I took a wee while ago with all the washing on it so it looked much the same so ill post that to.

Now I have a nice reading corner and my chair back!! yay!! I am loving the way the shelves are looking now the bottom boxes have a toy box for the kids stuff that get left around the place instead of making it back to there room,(you know how Lego's and marbles can travel) next is books for the kids, then plugs and cords, then the last one is Jon's 1980 wrestling mags and some DVDs.

Next is our bedroom

Now I went in there guns a blazing and forgot all about before pics so I went and grabbed during pics for this one, since we have four kids we decided to put all the boys in our big master bedroom and we have taken the smallest room in the house. Now Jon always sleeps on the right hand side of the bed and well he's not a little guy so it was always rather funny to watch him on his tipy toes edging between the bed and dresser but in reality it was rather painful for the lad he is forever banging his knees and stubbing his toes...lol I have taken pity in him and today moved the bed so he can now very easily get to it, added bonus is now he gets to sleep by the door witch he prefers but also when the kids get up they will bug him first HAHAHAHAHA

On a side note amazing the junk you can pull out of such a little room a 2 bags of clothes to go to the opp shop and a suitcase full of crap that didn't belong..lol My poor dinning room has become the dumping ground for everything that doesn't have a home ...lol

Ready for another shocker.

This time it was the bathroom/ laundry shelf. This was another dumping ground that got cleared sadly never...lol

Using what I have around this house I decided to get started on the organizing, I know its not fancy and flash but ill slowly get the fancy stuff later. I really want a big tin box thing like this for my washing powder, one day but for now doesn't this look so much better

The pink box was filled with old bottles, old razors and junk that didn't really belong in the bathroom at all!! the shelf was covered with old hair ties make-up, hair stuff and lots of crap from everyone pockets or stuff I have dug out of the bottom of the washing machine.

Side note: Ok I know I have showing you some rather yuck spaces, but our whole house isn't all bad just a few real problem spots that always get over looked.

Yep I have jumped on the organizing bandwagon in a big way but have started rather small with big success.

The TV cabinet was shocking and now I and shuddering showing these before pics cos well there gross and just yucky! (please don't judge me to harshly)

So here you go the before of the TV cabinet.

And now, doesn't it look better. I still want to replace the plastic tray things for some nice ones but I bought a bunch of stuff for the boys wardrobe today and the budget will only go so far, but I'm still very happy with how this is looking and it only took me 10 mins!!

So 1 little job down, 999 to go!!

Organization sigh and a RAK

Sadly organization Is not one of my strong suits. I really wish I was one of those born organized people. Even as a child I can remember my mum yelling at me to clean my room, and that consisted of just shoving everything into my wardrobe or under the bed, and sadly as a adult not much has changed.

I am in need of serious help here people I have piles of crap everywhere!!, I have been reading the blog I heart organizing to try and motivate myself , but in the end I just end up rather depressed...lol

I have one room in the house that's all good in the way of being organized and that's Annabels room, the one room I have done up and cleaned out completely. *sigh* its going to be forever before the rest of the house is done the rate I'm going. But I don't want it to take a year I want it done now but where to start?? what have you done that works.. another thing holding me back is wasting money I doing want to go out and spend heaps of money on storage and organization then find it doesn't work to well!!

So for now I have 7 rooms and a deck to get sorted and no clue how or where to start

One Awesome Little Oven

I am so happy about this little oven, and even happier that it gets played with daily. What started out as some old bed side tables has turned into a very cute little kitchen!!

The before pics, well sadly I cant find them but this is close to how it looked before but with out the draws in it and it has been chopped down a bit so it is Annabels height..

And after a bit of sanding painting and adding pits and bobs this is what it looks like now. Isn't it FAB!! I have also made a sink to go with it but that still needs taps and a door handle to go with it so for now the oven is on show.

I think this is my most favourite thing in her room!

All the paper has been seeled with mod podge so it is easy to wipe down after a hard days cooking

Canvas redo

Project house Annabels room update.

Well a while ago I made a big canvas for Annabel. You can see it here.

Lets just say it didn't last :( the kids got to it rather quick and pulled off all the buttons and bits...grrrrr So I put it out in the shed to “fix up one day” well that day came I pulled all the bits off and started it all over again repainted the canvas and this time painted her name on it instead of using painting. Lucky for me all the little bits of paper came off very easy so I could reuse them.

Before and After Dressing table

Another project house update this time Annabels dressing table, since I wanted to do up her room I was determined that the crappy furniture wasn't going back into her room so went on the hunt for a new dressing table.

I found this one on trade me, and thought it was perfect so snatched it up as soon as I could.

Now I wasn't a fan of the wood grain but I bought it with the intention of painting it, so as soon as I got it home I took to it with the sander and went to work.

And this is how it turned out. All an all very happy with it and it looks. much better than the plastic draw set!!

Now off to look for some new draws for the boys room!!

The Before Photos Shudder

Well as you may know we have decided to start doing up our house. I hate it the way it is and its time to sort that out. One can hardly be expected to keep the place spotless and everyone happy, when she hates the space where she spends most of her time!!

So like I have said in a few posts now that Project house has started!! YAY!

I have started in my daughters room, this is the one room in the house were I have the freedom to do anything thing I want to do and I am loving it!

Today I'm going to show you the dreaded before photos...*shudder*

Annabels room is a L shape room, with a step down between the two levels

Not very girlie or nice was it!!

Over the next few post I'm going to be showing you everything I have done and made to go in her room to date. I will always be adding new things to it I'm sure, but I'm not reddy for a complete room reveal just yet, but I don't want to wait to show stuff anymore...lol

To start with a few weeks ago Tracy and I were talking about making plaited rag rugs! So what did I do?? Run out to the shop the next day and get everything I needed to start plaiting. What started out as great fun soon turned into a great bother if I'm to be honest...lol everything plaited up all very well and I was very happy! But then came the sewing it up part well with out going in to to much detail about it all, lets just say after I sewed everything up I had to unpick everything, TWICE!! All 37 meters of plait!!!

But on Tuesday I had a rather productive day and got it finished !! AWESOME!! It is still a bit bunchy in places but I'm now so over it I don't really care...lol

But doesn't it look good !!! In the end I'm very happy with it, and it looks good as in little Miss Bells room.

Also I made Miss bell a little outfit! Isn't it cute!!

Well its been a while!!

But I did a Lo for me. Its been like 3 months that I have done a Lo just for the hell of it and had nothing to do with the anything!, felt good and different.

In fact this Lo is so very different to my normal style!! very unjen like!! I like it!!

See how the page isn't all filled up!! cool aye! I have never been one for space on LOs at all, but I am really liking this LO!

Papers used were from Kaiser-craft fun fair range and I just cut out the little animals. (The croc was a pain in the bum to cut out BTW the teeth and spikes on his back were tedious.) Alphas are American craft thickers.

What A Mess!!

Well since I have been doing up my daughters room my shed has become sort of a dumping ground and when ever I went looking for something I would have to pull out a 100 things to find it and none of them went back again. So after a month this is what I have!

What a mess right??

And with thoughts about making scrap friends and having them over for little crops, well they just might like a place to sit!! So time to clean up! Took me a while and I still have a couple of things to finish but its done and there is now a space for a friend to come and scrap with me :) And look there was a desk under all that crap!!

Now, all I need are scrapbooking friends near me :)

Naughty Bloger!!

Well I have been kinda neglectful of my blog this last month! Remember this post here when I had a rather depressing moment, well that night my husband came home from work and I told him just how I was feeling. So the next day we were out pricing up paint and picking colours!!!

So project house has started! Yay. I have started in my daughters room and so far I have all the walls painted, a new dressing table painted and redone a little oven made and so much more I want to get done in there. Her room is the one room in the house I have complete freedom in and I'm going nuts, in a good way!!

So keep an eye out for photos of her room later on next week!

For right now I'm showing the Better scrapbooking Design team stuff I did for March.

I simply loved the pack this month!! and I really really wanted to get a couple of Los done as well as the OTP stuff but I have no ink in my printer (still) and with all the painting and making things for misses room I haven't really had much time for anything else! But I'm still planing the Los I have them in my head ready to go as soon as I get ink.

I'm in the middle of changing things around, or I have had a really busy week, or any number of reasons really. I find myself saying this a lot, even when my house is tidy I say it..lol I have one of those houses that even when everything is tidy and clean it still looks messy and dirty. There are marks on the walls that wont wash off, stains on the carpet to just wont budge, base boards that have paint coming off them and generally look well, like crap !! And don't even get me started on the outside, I could go on about it for hours.

I can spend hours cleaning day in day out and the next day or in same cases even as little as a hour later its back to chaos!! I dread people just popping around unannounced. No wonder I don't have any friends I cant even have people in my home with having a wee panic attack when I hear the gate click!

Its so disappointing and depressing that when you slog your guts out day in and day out and no one really cares or appreciates what your doing. My husband walks in the door and just rolls his eyes and I know what he's thinking. Get of the computer and the couch woman!! He is right thou, I do spend way to much time on the pc.

I feel so selfish about even thinking all this right now, least I have a husband to come home and roll his eyes at me, least I have a house, least its mine (well and the banks) and I can do what I want with it. There are people in Christchurch that have lost everything!! The people they love, the homes they live in, everything and her I am bitching!

I have a rather charmed life, sure I don't have lots money in the bank I cant just go and buy what I want when I want it at the drop of a hat, but in the long run I generally get what I want. I have my husband who I love more than I can even say, even with the eye rolling, I have my kids who are all happy and healthy that I adore. In the big scheme of things I really don't have much to complain about.

Yet its all I seem to be doing lately, I can't see the good in anything, and its pissing me off and not helping the situation either !! I used to be a upbeat person with lots of friends and people around me . I wouldn't want to hang with me either the negativity is driving me insane. I want to make a stand today, no more self pitying its getting me and my family no where. I have to start putting some money aside to start with so I can get my new carpet, paint, curtains! I have so many ideas on what I want to do to thins place to get it to how I want it, and spending money on crap inst going to get me there!! maybe even a garage sale is in order! Get rid of some of the stuff I have around.

And so starts project house!

NZ Book Month

So I found out from Tracy that this month is New Zealand book month.

Now I am a big reader when I read a book, I am enthralled in it 9 times out of 10. I love the escapism of book how with a turn of a page you are in a different world! And depending on your mood you can be were ever you want to be, if I want to be in a Goth vamp underground living on the edge of society I can go there, if I want to be in the middle world war 2 and fight in a epic battle I can, if I want to take a step back in time to aristocracy and noble men I can.....can you tell I love books yet???

Nothing better than curling up with a nice blanket a good book and a Milo!!

For my first book to share, well not just one book but a series is the Black Dagger Brotherhood books by J R Ward!

Now I love me a bit of paranormal romance and this really appealed to me, I know I may have some of you rolling your eyes about now...lol how very teen of me to like the vampires. But really!! big, hot, hunky men and a completely new take on vampires how can you go wrong right?? A little bit darker and grittier than the likes of vampire diaries, and a little bit naughty in places to! lol Who and I kidding its a a lot naughty and in lots places but its not porn and very nicely done! The first book in this series isn't my fav and it took me a while to really get into it so if you have read the first one and thought nah, I say give the next couple ago and you'll be hooked!!!

Christchurch Earthquake

Yesterday just before 1 Pm Christchurch suffered another horrific earthquake with devastating results. Buildings are destroyed, with people trapped inside them the place looks like a war zone.

I am still in shock about the Christchurch earthquake,I feel some how wrong to be going on with my day when my family and friends are going though some of the worst times of there lives.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Christchurch and the people that have lost someone in this tragic disaster.

Happy Birthday Alex!!

Okay so I was meant to post all this last night but after such a busy day I was just stuffed and my brain went a bit la-la.

Yesterday was my Mr Alex's 4th birthday and this year instead of buying a bunch of toy that will just end up in the pile with all the others we took him to the movies! He LOVED it, got a bit broad towards the end but he is only 4 and well that is to be expected. We also got him a couple of little toys and a new bag for day care to but it was the movie that really stole the day.

BTW Nomeo and Juliet is way better than I thought it was going to be

And of course the Ben 10 cake, now I'm not the best cake person in the word but rather pleased with how this one turned out.

Altered Mirror

So it was 3rd time lucky! A few weeks ago we took this old ugly cabinet down from out of the bathroom, and it just sat in the shed. So while getting stuff out of the freezer for dinner the other week I saw it again and thought to myself, “oh I know what I can do with that!” So forgotten was dinner and I went to work with the screwdriver. I took the front of and quickly took it out to my shed to start working on it later that night. Only to be met with great disappointment, It wasn't working and looking how I wanted it to, so it got pushed aside for another day. Then about a week after that the same thing I got it out again ready to make it look beautiful and again disappointment, I was starting to think it was a lost cause and would never work, but 3rd time lucky it worked!!!

I had originally cut the carriage and title for a scrap booking page, but wasn't liking it so thought well why not use it on the mirror and, well there you go!!

And sorry about the pics too, while making this I didn't really anticipate how hard it would be to photograph..lol

Edit to add, I used the silhouette to cut the title and carriage.

Busy Few Days

Hi all, so I have had a busy few days doing little things for the Fiskars online crop, so far I have done 7 things! WOW! normally I only get 2-3 done, but for today I'm going to show you all just two of them.

Altered Photo Frame

I had this photo frame sitting around for a long time with broken glass, so a couple of nights ago I hauled it out and was wondering what to do with it! Couldn't put a photo in it, it would look funny, then thought of a big letter.

I left the sides plain, I think if I had added a bunch of stuff it would have lost the way it pops. And well Vinnie is now 11 and not into cars, dinosaur's and monster's, etc... But he liked it and its now hanging on his wall proudly next to his bed.

Now all the others have decided they want one too, off to look for more frames.

Photo of the Week and a New Colour

This week my little Annabel decided to extend her independence and picked her own clothes to wear. This ensemble consisted of some pants I made, a skirt I made, T-shirt, blue and white striped socks with skulls all over them (you can tell she has big brother's) and pink shoes, oh and the hair clips we made the day before, the whole look was very bohemian. Pity that by the time I got to her with the cam she had lost the socks and hair clips but still showcases her own style and uniqueness.

And off the cuff of my I'M AWESOME post I thought it was time for a new look and that look is RED!!

Thou in this pic its not very red in direct sunlight its rather bright.

A Double LO

OK I am not a fan of double LO, in fact I would go so far as to say I really just don't like them. So this was a real stretch for me. I did this LO before Christmas for a Facebook crop at crafty tart and completely forgot about..lol

This year the kids all helped me make some cards, they loved it, getting there fingers all in the paint and adding the bling all over.

I really need to tell myself more often, I am a good, talented, honest, caring person so why do I have the need to have other people tell me this to feel it??? hmm question of the hour.

Why do I care about what I make/do for other people so much more than what I do for myself?? I guess seeing as this one of my things for the new years to work on. To let things go and not let what other people think, hasn't made any progress at all.

I am always talking about how my house is a mess and how I hate it , yet I don't look after it how I should, but when I go and clean my mums house I go above and beyond the call of duty. Then something has been pointed out to me today that has got me really thinking in a convo between my very good friend Tracy who inst afraid to call it how she sees it.

Well you are always going on about how much you hate your house and how horrid it is, but anything to do with it and stuff for your kids you don't put in the same effort as you do with things you do for other people to me that tells me you don't put as much value in yourself as others

And you know what that is soooo correct I don't value myself at all, so everything I do for myself suffers,

For an example how this convo came up. I was taking about some pants I had make for my daughter and I said some of the seems were shocking , so Tracy said “well maybe you need to take more care.” And I was all “nah she'll be right.” But in saying that, if I was making those pants for someone else I would be all up and arms about them being perfect!!

But how does one fix something like this??? its not something you just wake up one day and change, I cant change who I am, I cant suddenly care!

I'm not writing this post so people to comment and tell me I'm awesome I am writing this for myself in the hope that if I get it out there I might be more aware of what's going on in my head and to document how much I grow as I try to work on this problem of mine, to see if I make any progress at all...lol

Don't get me wrong if you have any suggestions as to how I could fix this part of myself and grow some self esteem please feel free to let my know!

Sewing fun

So as a person that isn't a big fan of sewing, the title of this post just seems all wrong! But I must say I have had quite a lot of fun today and Friday.

On Friday I made curtains for my daughters room, my first attempt at making them and I feel rather proud, I know they have no gather, but the width of the fabric was 120 cm and the window was 2 meters long, plus being really lazy and and not adding panels, what can you do?? She is 2 she isn't going to care ...lol I so cant wait to go get the paint and get the rest of the room finished now !!!

Only problem is now, that since I first typed this post up my husband has fallen though the lounge ceiling while climbing around in the roof space looking for a leak, and now instead of paint I'm going to have to fix that instead. Sigh, if its not one thing its another. He is fine by the way. And no, he didn't find the leak!

Pic of where the huge hole was, he managed to patch it up a bit till we get it fixed right..lol

But today I had my niece and nephew here and Jess and I got busy making girlie stuff, while the boys took over the Xbox. We made little hand bags and hair clips , she had a great old time, pity I forgot to grab a pic of the bag and stuff before she left :( but hear are a couple of the clips.

And I also wiped up a skirt and pants for little miss, the skirt was made from a old top I had around and would never wear! Was easy as no need to even hem it if you do it right...lol

This is one of the little bags. My miss has taken ownership of it but Jess's one was way better it had handles and we added flowers all over it.

And now I'm off to make more pants!!

Photo Of The Week

Well theare 2 photos of the week this week, I just couldn't decide what one to post, been a good week for me and the camera...lol

This week my mum, 3 of the kids and I took a we trip to the beach to look for shells, no swimming thou cos well I'm am scared of Naipers beach...lol but the kids had a great old time picking over everything to find the perfect shells to bring home. I did manage to get a couple of shots of them being still, there is a first time for everything..lol

This one was is of the 3 younger kids hanging out in the backyard on the climbing frame thing, don't you just love summer!! Nice hot days were you can send all the kids outside for the day and only come in for lunch and more sun cream!

And this pic is well just cos, I still have not had much luck at getting a good pic of all kids looking at me at the same time, but this is still good all the same:)

So it has been a bit of a slow blog week with nothing to really report, I have been working on my design team LO for Better Scrapbooking and have 3 done and about to get going on the next one, plus another couple of little things I'm going to do with the scrap pack. So far I have rather enjoyed myself, when I first opened the box I was so excited and also a little scared, okay a lot scared! the colours and papers in the pack are not ones I normally work with but I have loved the challenge and think I have done rather well, I will post the Los next week.

Domestic goddess training is going well, my house has been tidy 9 days out of 10, meals have been cooked 9 nights out of 10, okay so I'm not getting out of bed and dollying my self up each day, but hey I'm not wearing my pj's and dressing gown to the supermarket like I saw the other day either. I have cleaned out all the kids draws and have got a few bags of stuff to take to the opp shop this week, today I got so enthusiastic and scrubbed my carpet and then moved on to mums house..lol, next to be done is my room,*shudders* and then the kids toy boxes!! So my plan to start this year right in one aspect of life at least is going well, still have a long way to go with the house but I'm getting there!

Photo Of The Week

So to finely restart up Photo of the week now Christmas is over and I'm not as busy. This weeks photo is nothing arty farty or anything, just nice photo of one of my boys Elliott on the Lions at Cornwall park.

We have found our self's hanging at the park a lot this summer already, the new splash pad is awesome, and I think its the best thing the council have done with the rates I pay.

And yesterday I decided to hall out Annabel little cradle and do it up a bit, this was mine from when I was little and still had the old paint work my dad did on it and well lets just say it was looking a but crusty..lol I also made a little mattress, pillow (OK so the pillow was the first mattress I made but once stuffed turned out way to small...lol so now its just a big pillow)and blanky to go with it, doesn't baby peaches look comfy...lol

Dream Big Baby Girl

New Lo to show, this one is of my Little girl Annabel, you may remember this photo from a few weeks ago for photo of the week (witch I will be starting up again now that Christmas is over and I'm not so busy) well I just loved this photo and really wanted to make a really pretty Lo to go with it, I think i did rather well...lol. Still trying new things I have distressed all the edges of this paper, and inked them with two different coloured inks. Okay so not a big new thing to try but I'm getting there. Baby steps people, baby steps!!

Materials used: Papers. Upsydaisy designs, Blossom orchard, Spring is in the air.
Brillance Inks, Cosmic Copper, Coffee Bean.
The word Dream was cut with a Silhouette.

Flowers, just sone I had in my stash.

Its the New Year and a RAK to go with it

Well its a new year, the Christmas is done and over the kids all had a blast and the weather held out nicely, but the tree has gone the decorations have been taken down for another year, and so begins 2011.

So with the new year come a new attitude, this year I want to make some changes with how I live, there are lots of things I want to get done, family stuff, house stuff, (lots of house stuff) me stuff, crafting stuff, to plug in and get more involved, to be a better friend, to not worry myself sick over things and people I have no control of, to not take things so personally, so so much really I'm going to have to write up a list..lol but where to start!!

But for now one thing I'm very happy about is a few weeks ago I got involved and participated in a online crop on facebook for craftytart, I won a $10 voucher for being the first to sign in, and came second place overall !! look at this awesome tote bag from Tote Ally I won!! its very cool indeed!!! Now all I need to do is go shopping to fill it up...lol

So much to do so little time!!

Well it is Christmas week and with 4 sleeps till the jolly fat man arrives I still have lots to do, but one less thing are some gifts, finely have almost everything made and if needed sent, still have one more canvas to do but ill do that to night I think.

Deistic goddess training has gone out the window till after Christmas but on a good note I am cleaning the house from top to bottom over the next couple of days so I will have a clean slate come new years.

And on to the stuff I have made

What is the most amount of pics you have even seen on one scrapbookig page??

Scrap Style and two new LOs

This week I asked some friends of mine Tracy, Danice and Nic what they thought my scraping style was and I was a bit surprised at what they said. They all saw something in my Los that I didn't. I had always thought I had a rather mixed kinda style but all agreed on linear, tidy and contemporary. I have never looked at all my Los together at once before to see it, but they are so right!!!

The reason I wanted to know my style was not so I could change it but expand it, learn, try new things, try new ways to set the paper e.g. ripping paper something that I'm not a fan of.

Not everything has to start up and down and tidy all the time, buttons and flowers can be used in more or less of groups of three, not everything needs a matt around it and I don't need to use the whole paper sometimes less is more. These are just a few things I am going to try and work on

So a question to you. What is your style and how can you build on it?

And now for the Los

This first one was from a very girlie sketch and I wanted to make it as a boy Lo just to see if I could.

This one I did after the whole what's my style question was asked. I think I did rather well the paper is off on a angle and the buttons are not in groups of three. Its a working progress baby steps.

Altered Canvas

Its been a while since I made a altered canvas but over the past couple of weeks I have made 2. While visiting my best mate Tracy I was looking around her house and well there are nice little crafty things all over the place and it got me to thinking, for a crafter I really don't have much craft stuff in my house!!

So I have decided this has to change, and so far canvases are the way to go. First one is of my little miss Annabel to go in her room, isn't it pretty!!

This one has found a home sitting on top of the fire place mantle, rather pleased with how this one has turned out. Btw do you know how hard it is to get 4 kids to sit still and look at you at the same time. I took about 20 photos and this one was the best of the lot...lol

Domestic Goddess Reality or Dream.

My very good friend Tracy asked a question on her blog the other day that got me thinking, domestic goddess reality or dream.

Well for me this has always been a dream and never the reality, Sigh.... I have always been very envious of these women you see always dressed awesome make-up done, house spotless with not a thing out of place and kids well manned, tidy, lovely and clean all the time, dinner made on time and not just eggs on toast kind either. Where at my house the story is very different, there is no dressing nicely, there is getting up putting on the trackys and what ever T shirt is around, there is no make up; that's laughable, the house is a mess 90% of the time, and the kids, well they bath everyday but they are always filthy, they are loud and messy and dinner is often a rushed job never really been planned out, more of ‘oh bugger its 4- 4:30 what on earth am I going to have for dinner.’

So the question has been asked can I change this? Can I become the domestic goddess I always wanted to be? I’m not talking 1960 house wife here but more of the 2000 version , I’m thinking getting up and making myself at leasts presentable to the world, my house tidy 90% of the time instead of the other way round, my kids organised and well a bit quieter wouldn't go a miss either, and dinner to be made nicely 5 nights out of 7. Do you think this might be a bit to much to ask? Keeping in mind im very lazy and have a terrible time getting my big bum off the couch and the laptop...lol

So today I will be writing up a schedule and a list of the things I need to get done and will report in a couple of days how I’m getting on.

Monster Softies

latest thing for me has involved dragging out the sewing machine and wiping up some softies!! I have never been much of a sewer before, any thing involving fabric and a needle and thread has me running, but I must say my little old sewing machine has never seen so much use!! These softies were super easy to make, I just drafted my own patterns and went to it, each only took about ½ hour to make. The kids love them!

This ones arms are a bit wonky be hey gives him personalty!

Altered Christmas CDs

Christmas is upon us and for once I'm organized, yay me!!! lol. Instead of waiting till 3 days before Christmas day to make my CDs this year I have done them super early!! (there's a first time for everything)

I make Christmas CDs every year for the tree, they are super easy to make and can be as simple or elaborate as you want them to be, I have noticed over the years how much my CDs have changed this is a great way to mark your progress as a crafter over the years too:)

Mud Monsters

Well over the long weekend the weather was so nice but sadly my husband was stuck at work, so that means the kids and I were stuck at home, But not to worry we had a blast!!!

What was meant to be my vege garden quickly became a mud pit. My oldest boy Vinnie decided to start fulling a big hole he had dug with water, next thing I look out the door and this is what I see!!!

Now imagen what the bathroom looked like after all that!

Altered frame years in the making

A long time ago I saw a photo online of a frame with square bits of paper in it (hard to explain)and I loved it and wanted to do something like it and well the other week I was sorting my stuff and came across some frames I got at a school gala. After having these frames for a couple of years not really having any idea of what to do with them I suddenly had a thought. Why not use this frame to make the one I have been wanting to...lol

So out came the spry can and off I went

I"M BACK!!

Wow it has been so long is anyone still even reading my blog??

Well winter has past and I gotten of the couch and have put all the books away and I'm slowly getting back into the world of crafting. I have lots to show you over the next few posts of all the bit and pieces I have made over the last six months. I have made my Christmas CD decorations for the kids early this year, and have done a few LO and I'm now working on felt food for my daughters Christmas present. Also there are a couple of altered frames and a couple of mini albums....hmm when I see if all written down like this I haven't been as quiet on the crafting front as I thought...lol

so to anyone who is still reading this I will be back tomorrow with photos of some of the things I have been doing.

A Lay out for me...lol

well I said next on my list was something for my list, well I did start something but had to stop when I didn't have the right bulldog clip , so I decided to do a lo for me!! first lo I have done for a non challenge in a long time!!

anyway its nothing fancy and I am still going to add journalling to this lo ( something I find my self doing a lot more) but I will add that tomorrow when I get more pens.

About a year ago I discovered the CD with all the photos of my son Elliott had been destroyed not only Elliott everything from that year has gone so when I found these pics I was so happy, the pics them self not very good but who cares!!! I have pics...lol

So as of late I have been reading the secret again, and I decided I wanted a little affirmation book so as I was reading and I thought of things I could write them down , So I was telling my friend Tracy that I needed to go and buy a little note book, Her reply was “ you own Bind-it-all make one you twit” well must say twit was the right word at the time, I didn't even think of making one...lol

We all start somewhere!

Well over on the trademe message borads there has been some talk about ppl feeling there pages aren't very good and not wanting to post there LO, So my good friend Tracy has challenged myself and Kris to blog our first Los. So today I am going to show everyone some of my first stuff I ever did , to show everyone that we all had to start somewhere and the Lo you see today didn't happen over night.

I started scraping when I was walking though warehouse one day and saw some ready made Los on the shelves, and thought to myself “oh I can do that”!! little did I know it was going to be a lot harder than it looked...lol and it took a long time! So I got a few bits and bobs and went at it....

Problem was there just want the stuff around there is today till I found Hastings rubber stamps, a shop that had been there for years I had walked past it hundreds of time but that one day I went in. I was in love!! they had everything there I was looking for and stuff I hadn't even thought of ...lol

Over the years my style has changed a number of times it is forever evolving. And I have come a long way from where i started, but even then some things are very hit and miss...lol So please if you are new to scrapbooking don't get discouraged by what you think to be good, even the ppl who did the Los you look up to started somewhere!

Yay me!!, a few post ago I said something about how I was going to be published in the New Zealand scrapbooking mag Up2Scrap, well I got a email last night saying the altered box I also sent in has made it into the mag too, I am so happy and excited!!!

The Little Bird House that Wasn't

Another little thing I made while I was away.

After a long time looking for a birdhouse to alter and coming up with nothing I decided to make my own, so the hunt for something to make it out of started. At first I was planing of doing it with balsa wood but then thought better of it. Then while I was at the model shop I found some sort of polystyrene sheets with a hard coating of some sort. perfect!!

WOW 5 months

since my last post!!!

Sorry to anyone that reads my blog but I haven't been very well for a couple of months and I took a break from crafting in a big way, I was only making stuff to sell for a long time and wasn't really selling much so didn't really get a lot done...lol

But its a new year and with it comes new ideas and a fresh approach to the world, all tho I can not commit to being back fully I hope to be back blogging and crafting a lot more than I was!!

And some good news too, I am going to be published!!! WOOHOO!!!

My friend Tracy convinced me to submit a LO to up2scrap mag (NZ scrap booking mag) and it made it in....I am still in shock a little bit and i still cant post the LO anywhere online but look out for it in May!!

And also its my wedding anniversary today! 4 awesome years!! love you hun

Well to be completely honest I had really completely forgotten about my blog *slaps hand* but I’m back and crafting even!!!! First order of business is the RAK I was giving away a few months ago; I know I’m a bit late but hey better late than never, right???

Anyway and the winner is Jacquie!!!!!

And back to the reason for this blog, crafty stuff!!!

Well, over a week ago I became the proud owner of a Quickkutz Silhouette SD and a brand new laptop to go with it, and with them came new craft mojo ...(at last) it had been a while since I had done anything !!!!!

First I made a hair tie box for my little girls hair ties and clips, really I just wanted to make something with my new toys...lol

Then I decided to make a altered clipboard, thanks to my friend Tracy who had made one a couple of days before...lol I copied her.

and after that it was a altered canvas for my little girls room!! I still have the boys ones to go but I am really happy with how this one had turned out!

And last but not least I have done a Lo for tmscrapers, challenge this time was a single page lo with as many pic as we wanted but the theme was P. not to happy with this one but it will do for now!

Oh my gosh!!!!

Almost 4 months have pasts since my last post *smacks hand* and what have I got to show for my four months …well not a lot...lol I don’t know why but all desire to do anything crafty left me for a while there!!! But I’m and slowly creeping back and I have done two Los this week!! One thanks to the tm scrapers challenge that got me off my butt and made me do something!!!

I have 9 draws to sort my 12x12 paper in but I have no idea how to sort the papers, at the mo I have them in colour (sort of) but it is now all mixed up and I have no idea what I have and where it is. HELP!!!

Hi everyone, so I haven't really been around much the past few weeks, I have still been doing some scraping but not much really and I have been spending more and more time away from the pc. I seemed to have lost a bit of my mojo!! I have been trying to catch up a little bit ( cos I will never really be ACU)on my boy LO but I seem to have lost it when it comes to boy LOs now ...I just cant think of anything new to do!!! any way here are a couple of pic of the LOs I have done.

where have I been??

So what have I been up to the past 2 weeks??? Well my youngest boy Alex had a birthday so he is a big 2 year old now. Then everyone got sick on me I can tell you 4 sick kids at the same time is not fun!! Then I had major scrap block and just could not do anything for about a week, but I soon got over that and got creating again.

Now as I have said before I am not a cake person! The proof is a couple of post below this one, so after 2 days of work I was quite happy with how this dinosaur cake turned out!! didn’t look like the pic really but for me its golden!

Heritage Layout’s Here I come!!!

For a while now I have been wanting to try heritage Los… I decided to go on the hunt for mums photos of her growing up and boy what a find !!! 3 boxes full of old photos of my Mum and Dad growing up, there wedding day and even the pics of me and my sisters are there!! Very cool! Just take a look at these wee gems.

The Great Cake Disaster!!!

Hi all, just dropping off another LO I did last week. I know is not the best LO I have done but I'm going to post it anyway cos take a look at the journaling!!!! Hand written even!! YAY me. I think I am stating to get over the fear!!

Journaling reads:

People that know me know I'm not a cake person. So I was so happy with how Elliott’s 4th birthday cake turned out I just had to take a photo. So off I went and took the photo then off I ran to load it on to the pc so I could show a friend of mine who was online at the time. I was so excited I forgot I had left the cake sitting on the table!! Next thing I see is Alex covered in icing from head to toe!! I was gutted cos of my own stupidity the cake was stuffed and I was almost crying. But in the end all was well and I did manage to fix the cake. Elliott didn’t mind, he couldn’t even tell.

I said I would be back to post some photos of the LO I did over the weekend. This first LO is of my oldest boy Vinnie playing bare foot sevens for school. Now for those of you that don’t know barefoot sevens is a game like rugby or rugby sevens. Rugby is big in New Zealand but in the US not many ppl have heard of it.

Bossy scraper, page maps and other

Trying to get back into the swing of things again after taking so long off was hard. I started of by doing the tab books that are posted below and then I wanted to do some Los but I just had nothing in my head…lol so my friend Tracy went bossy scraper on me and the resalt was the following LO

I don’t really like bossy scraper I found it to constricting.
So next we moved onto Page maps and I did 2 more LOs.

This LO I wasn’t going to post cos im going to get some journaling stamps and redo the journaling but that’s not going to be this week now so I posted it anyway.

And last but not least I did this wedding page and I just love it …I cheated a little and started of scrap lifting but then went of on my own as I do often…lol

So all in al I think I have done well this week I went form doing nothing really for a couple of months to 2 tab books and 4 LO in 5 days…lol

Wow its been a while

Its about time I updated . Lets see what’s been going one around here? Well I have finely gotten a new camera. Yay. Its nothing flash just a point and shoot for now till I can save up to get a better one but hay I’m just happy to have a camera again. Happy early Christmas to me!

What else have I done? Well I have made all my Christmas decoration nice and early instead of leaving them till a week before the tree goes up like I normally do (meaning they don’t get made because I run out of time. lol) I know there not very Christmassy in the typical sense but in this house we don’t have a nice colour coordinated tree at all we have every colour of the rainbow on it.

Made out of cd’s I only did the first letter of everyone’s name because well I just didn’t have enough room to put the whole names. Although I still need to do mine but I couldn’t find the M for Mum I may need to just do a J instead. I think they look good. It was funny looking back at some of the ones I did a few years ago. I have come a long way since then lol.

These next two LOs I did for scrap bookers challenge on bebo , not very happy with it the first one but it done now the was going to be a couple more photos on it but my almost 4 year old got to them with my scissors and well I’m sure you can imagine the rest.

This one was a challenge with fabric I have never used fabric before on a LO so it was a little hard I did stuff it up a bit because I wasn’t going to put flowers on it at all but I had to hide my stuff up..lol all in all I don’t think it looks to bad really

And last but not least I made a card my first one ever!!! I have since made a few more still not sure about the whole card making thing but I have found it’s a good way toy use up all the scrapes hanging around.

This was again the only crafty thing I did all weekend. Photo taken of my son buy my son the boy takes better photos than I do…lol and just so you know he was trying to be a ninja.

I all so went to my sons school gala this weekend and got lots of really cool things including 6 photo frames that will be great for altering for $1.50 and some canvases for a $1.00 so it was a really good score. So keep you eyes peeled for some altered frames very soon.

Wow my big boy is nine

My big boy is nine! I don’t know where the time has gone He has just grown up so fast. We didn’t have a party this year only every second year in this house. When I asked Vinnie what kind of cake he wanted, he simply wanted a chocolate cake in the shape of a nine covered with choc icing and lollies. So that’s what we made he was so happy and he loved his present this year instead of getting him a heap of toys we went for a WWE TV/DVD player and a couple of DVD's he says its his most favourite part of his birthday.

For dinner it was up to him, I honestly thought he was going to say Mc Donald’s or something like that but no not my boy he wanted to go to a restraint called breakers. It was great the kids where so well behaved it just toped of what was all ready a great day for all our family.

Journaling. Not a fan

Dose anyone else hate it ….I am not a fan of journaling at all I don’t like my writing, I cant spell to save myself and I never know what to say. I’m not the best with words they don’t flow for me very well…lol (as you can tell) so I have decided to challenge my self, one out of every three LO’s I do must have journaling on it. I did one the other day but I cheated a little and used a poem that I printed out on nice paper…..dose that count?

Not that I can show anyone my work my camera has died …:( I don’t know why but the stupid thing just wont turn on . I have my Mums camera here but for some reason I cant get the thing to load my photos onto the pc. GRRR

Weekend efforts

Well it wasn’t as big of a weekend as I had planed but I had fun all the same and I got to use some of my new goodies. we where out most of Sunday visiting the family but I did manage to get a bit of crafting done two LO’s and a altered tin I did for a friend of mine that has just had a baby …

This first lo was done for bebo scrabookers challenge single page LO using 2 photos one photo bigger than the other. Photo must be of an object not a person

Big weekend planed

Well I have a pile of new scrap stuff to work with so I am planning a big crafty weekend, hubby will be home this weekend so I’m hoping he will take all the kids away for a while so I can get some work done. I have lots of little projects I want to get done a altered note book a couple of Los I might even try and get a mini book done but that might be pushing it a bit.

I am all so very excited I have submitted a off the page item to a scrap booking mag. This is the first time I have submitted anything so I’m a little nervous. I don’t think it will get in but I’m happy and excited all the same…lol I will post a photo as soon as I know it didn’t get in but in till then you will just have to wait…lol

Boys weekend

As some of you may know I have recently had a little baby girl after 3 boys. I have been so raped up in pink paper, pink ribbons, pink flowers, pink everything that my boys have been getting a little neglected in my scrapbooks. So I decided that this weekend was going to be a boys weekend I managed to get 3 LOs done but I think I have lost my scrap mojo where my boys are concerned. I just can't do a descent boy LO to save myself …lol

The first LO is of my 18 month old Alex playing peek a boo in my washing, in hindsight the paper I used wasn’t the best because the title and everything blends in a bit.
