So it was time to challenge myself and well, I don't do things by half's. I took the Mixed media to a whole new level for me, this is by far the biggest thing I have ever made. And I found it hard....really hard. This big plank of wood started out as the top of a old computer desk I pulled apart a few weeks ago. After looking at it for a couple of days thinking "hmmm I have an idea" it was time to just do it and after a couple of false starts this is the end result.
Just so you can see the size. Photo taken with my 5 year old Annabel
Now the question is do I try and make more this size?!?!
This is what it looked like before, I used a heap of scraps up and it was really cute for a while. But them everything started to fall of and it was just naff, it got put away in the ill fix that one day basket, and there it stayed till about 3 days ago
And now it looks like this!
I was a bit worried after I finished it, it's not what you would call really girly, while yes it is pink and has girly colours and patterns I really thought it might be a bit teenage girl-ish, but Annabel loved it so all goods!!
All the paper came from
Crate Paper: Paper Hearts collection
American Crafts: 5th & Frolic collection
I am very sorry about the video thou, I have a new camera and well I'm still working out the bugs, and also, I have changed my scrapbooking corner and I am still in a transitioning stage with it all so this was filmed at my dinning table with not the best lighting. but I hope you will forgive me!!
So I was sorting my photos on the PC and came across these little gems. I had forgotten all about them and never posted them here to show you all!! (another reason I am a bad blogger)
Made for my Boy's school teachers last Christmas. all are done on 6-12 inch canvas
And these ones were for my daughters daycare teachers
So a we while ago my LSS, Hastings Rubber Stamps asked me to make something for one of their classes. They are looking for something a little different, ie not scrapbooking pages!! I am so freaking out, I have never done a class before let alone teach one !!! ekkkk!
I was given some product and then sent hm to see what I could come up with and this is what I made,
What I used
Canvas
Sewing pattern, tissue paper
Paint
Butterfly paper
Rubons
Mod podge
Brown waterbased marker
Black gel pen
Stamps
I am so excited to be doing my first class in October, Im sure you will hear all about it!
Hi all, I
have been busy, busy, busy making lots more mixed media canvases !! and I now have
a Facebook page called Jens Gems where I am making all my one of a kind mixed media art to
sell come and check it out and like my page. I also make little boxes and other
stuff to order as well. Once I get over 100 likesim going to doing a little
giveaway!!
This week I
have gone for the mixed Media arts again, I just love this stuff, its so messy
it’s a ton of fun!!! Anyway I had a old painting around that was just sitting
there doing nothing it was never going to be hung the way it was so I thought I
may as well go ahead and paint over it !!!
Note these
are a bit different where as in the original she has used
a 6x12 inch canvas and mine is well …not that I think its about 21 x17 So with a
bigger work space comes a lot more space to fill so is not as busy at the
original one but I love it just the same!!!
So this is
all very new to me, but I have been looking at mixed media art and thinking man
I want to give this a go, I had no real expectations about how it would look at
the end, I just wanted to have some fun with paints, inks and colored pencils, and
all sorts of other goodies!!
But man, am
I happy with the end results!! This stuff is fun and so free!! Unlike scrapbooking
there are just no rules and anything goes!! (I know ppl say that about
scrapbooking to, but so often that just isn’t the case is it??)
For my first
go at it I did the girl, she doesn’t have a name yet… Anyone who wants to name
her shoot me a message with the name and I may just make one just tailored for
you!!
The next is
a set of four, I have called them Butterflies! Simple but effective name I think…lol
So what do
you guys think of my first foray into the world of mixed media!! I am very happy
with how they have turned out!!
